Residents are invited to give back to both our parks and planet this Earth Day, according to Park Superintendent Mark Schreiber.
In partnership with American RENOLIT, the City of La Porte will be hosting an Earth Day Celebration from 8-10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at Fox Memorial Park. The festivities will include a ceremonial tree planting, park cleanup efforts and native wildflower planting. Schreiber said this is a great opportunity for residents to get their hands dirty while celebrating our parks and lakes.
“For the last few years, the City has been proud to partner with American RENOLIT to recognize Earth Day,” Schreiber said. “This year, we are excited to take things to the next level with a volunteer effort to really drive home the important role our parks, lakes and natural resources play in our community. We expect a fun and productive morning, and encourage those interested to grab some gloves and come join us.”
As a thank you, Schreiber said a limited number of native wildflowers will be given to volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis. To help in determining a count, he said pre-registration for this event is strongly encouraged.
In the event of rain, a make-up date has been set for Thursday, Apr. 25. For more information, FAQs and a link to register, visit www.laporteparkandrec.com.
