Central Church of God will be holding a barbecue/bake sale to raise money to send members of the church’s youth group to a nationwide talent competition called “Teen Talent.” The barbecue will be on July 30 from 2 to 6 p.m.
Pulled pork, pork steak and multiple side dishes will be served during the barbecue. The bake sale will provide various dessert options ranging from cookies to parfaits.
Members of the youth group, “Three Days Later” received first place in multiple categories during the statewide portion of the Teen Talent competition, held April 30. This allowed the participants to qualify for the nationwide competition to be held from Aug 1 to 6 at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
Michael Elkins, who will be competing in the woodwind instrumental and pantomime competitions, said it’s an honor to represent Indiana and a confidence booster to be able to advance to the national competition.
“It’s a start to new ministries in our church,” said Elkins.
Central Church of God is located at 5120 Central Avenue in Portage. For more information or to make a donation, call Chad Muncy at 219-762-0680.
