The City of Portage is hosting a public informational meeting on the Central Avenue Reconstruction project, from Hamstrom Road to Scott Street. 
The meeting will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 5:30 pm at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, located at 6540 Central Ave.
Some of the improvements include:
- Pavement Widening (12’ Left Turn Lane & two 12’ Thru Lanes)
- Sidewalks, Curbs, & Gutters on Both Sides of Central Ave
- Stormwater Conveyance to Established Detention Facilities
- Sanitary Sewer Improvements Between Airport Rd. & Hamstrom Rd.
- Incorporated Street Lighting
- Landscaping Installation & Tree Planting Along Entire Project
- Modernized Traffic Signal @ Hamstrom Rd & Central Ave
- Intersection Improvement @ Hamstrom Rd & Central Ave
- Full Improvement of Airport Rd & Central Ave Intersection
- Installation of Traffic & Pedestrian Signal(s) at Airport Rd & Central Ave
- Increased Pedestrian and Vehicular Safety
- Increased Vehicular Capacity Making Your Drive Easier
- Bridge Improvements @ Robbin’s Ditch & Central Ave.
- Water Quality & Sedimentation Improvements
The project is scheduled for spring 2012 construction
