Mayor Olga Velazquez, Portage City Council, and Portage Utility Service Board welcomes you to a public information meeting about the Central Avenue Reconstruction from County Line Road to Willowcreek Road. The meeting will be held at the Willowcreek Middle School on Monday, June 21, 2010, at 4:30 pm. 
Construction in multiple phases is expected and anticipated to begin in 2012. An intersection improvement project at County Line Road is expected in 2011. The construction of Willowcreek Road at Central Avenue is expected to be completed in 2011. The project is funded by a combination of federal and local funds, including funds from the Portage Stormwater Management Program.
Some of the goals of the project are:
- Add curb, gutter, and storm sewer throughout corridor
- Add continuous sidewalks and a multi-use path along roadway
- Maintain one travel lane in each direction, with turn lanes as appropriate
- Improve safety and accessibility for drivers, pedestrians, and local residents, including sidewalk curb ramps for those with accessibility needs Install water quality features along the project, including stormwater treatment for contaminants
- Replace bridge at Willow Creek with structure that can adequately handle storm events
- Address local drainage concerns
