Center for Hospice Care is proud to announce the earning of their accreditation from the National Jewish Hospice Institute (NJHI). This accreditation teaches principles of Jewish hospice care that enable Center for Hospice Care to provide services that reflect Jewish values, Jewish tradition and traditional Jewish Law.
With this accreditation, Center for Hospice Care has been able to gain enhanced understanding of Jewish culture and religion and their impact on death and dying as well as integrating the understanding of Jewish medical ethics into hospice care. This accreditation also allows Center for Hospice Care to understand unique aspects of Jewish grief and mourning as well as brings sensitivity to the various observances, ceremonial objects and the Jewish calendar.
The National Institute for Jewish Hospice was established in 1985 by Rabbi Maurice Lamm and Shirley Lamm, and is directed by a professional leadership of scholars, administrators and clinical experts. NIJH serves as a resource and educational center for hospice care of Jewish patients. The issues and support techniques that are taught in conjunction with cultural tradition and values puts Center for Hospice Care in the unique position to be able to manage all end-of-life circumstances of the Jewish population.
