Meet Theresa, sales assistant and office extraordinaire at PortageLife. A fan of classic black, she believes colored clothing does not suit her look. “I haven’t experimented with color,” she said, “I see outfits in magazines that I like and would love to try, but feel like I can’t pull it off.”

In order to ease Theresa into introducing color to her wardrobe, Tevlyn started with solid colors. A red dress, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’s style, with a higher neck and higher waistline, was selected for a pop of color. A jean jacket was added to the look, allowing the outfit to maintain a casual appearance that easily converts to dressy once removed. Black flats with colorful details on the toes allowed the outfit to be casual or dressy, and a whimsical necklace and purple purse completed the look, with more color and a slight touch of pattern.

To continue opening up Theresa to more color in her wardrobe, Tevlyn put together another casual look, perfect for a laid-back work environment, an outing with the kids, or hanging out with friends. She took a teal-colored tunic and added a short-sleeve yellow top underneath, in order to enrich the colors, as they are nearly complimentary. Black pants and shoes ground the outfit, keeping Theresa comfortable in her signature style, and colorful accessories in shades of the outfit tie it all together.
