Bring Along Nonperishable Food Donations for the Portage Township Food Pantry to the 2015 4th of July

Portage-Parks-4th-of-July-Flyer-2015The community is encouraged to support the Portage Township Food Pantry’s collection days on Friday and Saturday, July 3rd & 4th during the City of Portage’s Independence Day celebrations!

On Friday, July 3rd, bring your nonperishable food donations with you to the fireworks and fun on Trumble Field at Willowcreek Middle School (5962 Central Ave, Portage Indiana). There will be vendors and music beginning at 6p and fireworks at dusk. Portage Township Food Pantry volunteers will be located at the entrance gate to accept your donations! Monetary donations are also welcome.

On Saturday July 4th, look for the Portage Township Food Pantry in the parade! Plan on dropping your nonperishable food donations into the shopping carts as volunteers walk the parade route! Parade begins at 11a, starting at Willowcreek Middle School and heading south down Willowcreek to Lute Road.

Popular nonperishable food donations include; canned soups, chili, vegetables and fruits, pasta noodles, peanut butter, crackers, rice, tuna, and breakfast cereals.

Portage Township Food Pantry is a 501©3 nonprofit, volunteer organization providing emergency food assistance to Portage Township families in crisis situations. Currently, the pantry serves 400-500 people every month and the need continues to grow.
