Lake Area United Way (LAUW) participated in a volunteer project with BP Asian Network Whiting, Indiana. BP employees created 150 activity kits for kids to be donated to a local hospital. These kits were donated to Methodist Hospital’s Pediatric Unit at the Gary Campus and the emergency room departments at both the Gary and Merrillville Campuses. 6 year old Christian Williams was being discharged on the day the activity kits were being delivered by Megan Sikes, Community Engagement Manager at the LAUW.
Christian proudly accepted his activity kit and asked if he could have one for his sister. The big smile on his face said it all. Thanks to the generous gift from BP and the LAUW kids treated at Methodist Hospitals will be able to smile during a time when they need it most.
