Good Character and Citizenship is an important aspect within Boys & Girls Clubs programming. We teach our Club members to get involved with their communities and to “pay it forward” when it comes to building and making our neighborhoods strong. As a result, our Clubs partner with a number of organizations like the American Red Cross.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana regularly holds Red Cross Blood Drives to help give back to the community and the recent drives have proven to be life saving! With the help of Boys & Girls Clubs Keystone and Torch Clubs, community service groups led by Club tweens and teens, individuals participating in our Clubs’ blood drives experienced a fun and calming donation process.
Between the three blood drives held at Duneland, Portage and South Haven Clubs, 56 pints of blood were donated! This is enough blood to help 168 patients in need! Promotiong this community service event, our Clubs had several first-time blood donors supporting the cause.
Our Clubs frequently hold blood drives and will provide such information in advance. In addition, the American Red Cross posts local events that may be near to you. Visit redcrossblood.org and save a life today!
