Strack & Van Til’s offers its customers an easy way to give back to their favorite and local charities throughout Northwest Indiana by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar. Through the grocery chain’s Checkout Challenge, customers have the opportunity to learn about and, in turn, give to many local organizations that help make local communities strong and thriving. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana was one such organization that benefitted from the generosity of so many people during the early part of summer. As customers “rounded-up” their purchases at Strack & Van Til’s stores, over $40,000 was raised for Boys & Girls Clubs to support after-school and summer programs for youth ages 5 to 18 years.
“Our Strack & Van Til’s have the best customers,” states Jeff Strack, president of Strack & Van Til’s. “It really is our customers that are giving back to the community. Our stores, with the help of our employees, just provide our customers an outlet to give to some of their favorite local organizations. It is their generosity, and the commitment of our employees, that make our Checkout Challenge program successful and, in turn, our communities strong.”
To thank Strack & Van Til customers and employees, Club members visited Strack’s corporate offices and were excited to meet Jeff Strack in person! “Strack & Van Til is an excellent partner for so many community resources,” explains Ryan Smiley, president and CEO for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana. “Giving customers an easy way to give back to their communities is just one way that shows Strack & Van Til’s commitment to our communities. Strack’s also offers people an opportunity to learn more about who they are giving to and why it is important. We were thankful that our Clubs were able to have information about our after-school and summer programs in so many Strack & Van Til locations this summer as many families were searching for out-of-school activities for their children,” Smiley states further.
