Boys & Girls Clubs Announces Travel Basketball League for Northwest Indiana Youth

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana will be introducing a multi-level developmental Basketball league, open to all Northwest Indiana youth and families. The league will consist of members and community youth from the Valparaiso, Duneland, South Haven and Portage Boys & Girls Clubs, as well as the Valparaiso Parks Department, and will begin in early January.

Historically, Boys & Girls Clubs leagues have operated in-house, with individual Clubs running separate leagues concurrently throughout the year. This new, regional travel league comes in response to high-costs often seen in private travel basketball programs.

“We’re trying to challenge the idea that travel sports needs to carry such a high price tag,” said Shire Kuch, Vice President of Finance & Philanthropy, “consistent access to recreational sports is vital to youth development, and this league will help make that possible for all families.”

Currently, the league is priced at $50 per athlete, including jerseys and equipment. The league will run from January 2nd through March 4th, with a tournament and championships at each level to end the season.
