Bounce ‘N’ Around Helps Make Summer Fun for Kids

The Valparaiso High School Field House was filled withe pitter-patter of MANY children on Friday afternoon. Little blurs resembling young people zoomed all around the Field House, shouting, laughing, and having a good old time on gigantic bounce houses.

This was one of multiple days that the Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation's annual summer Discovery Camps. Kids ages 3 all the way through grade 8 attend age-appropriate day time camps starting that began in early June.

Jill Blakley, A.K.A. "Skittles", was on duty with her fellow camp directors making sure that the kids had the best time that they could.

"This is a mixture of our day camp, our ranger camp and our adventure camp," Blakely said. "So there's anybody out here from the ages of three to fourteen."

Due to uncooperative weather, the days activities were moved indoors. That didn't dampen the mood, though. As one of three "Inflatable Days" this summer, Bounce 'N' Around made it very easy for the kids to have fun and work off some of that extra energy.

"We've used Bounce 'N' Around for a while," Blakley said. "They are really great to work with. They put up their inflatables, they take them down, they show us how to use them. They are really great to work with.

The camps are filled with fun games and activities to keep kids in the community engaged all summer long. For more information on the summer Discovery Camps visit www.valpoparks.org or call 219-462-5144.

"This is a place that people can send their kids that is safe. When you break down the price it's about $3 and $5 an hour. You won't find a babysitter for that cheap... All of our instructors are trained, we have lifeguards on staff, and everyone is CPR and first aid certified. It's important for the community to know that they can count on us. This is a really great thing," Blakley ended.
