Luc was born July 12, 2010 with Coffin-Sirus Syndrome (a rare congenital disorder). His heart diagnoses include Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (one of the most complex cardiac defects seen in a newborn where only one of the two ventricles is the right size).
Other diagnoses include Absent Corpus Callosum (brain structure), Craniostenosis (soft spots fused), Malrotation (bowel and intestine), slow gut motility (needs feeding tube) and Diaphragm Hemiparesis (respiration).
Luc has been in Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital since birth and has had 2 of the 3 surgeries required to reconstruct his heart plus 2 surgeries to reconstruct his stomach and colon. He will also need another surgery to correct the Craniostenosis.
