The Kiwanis Club of Portage will be holding auditions for the FREEDOM BATTALION. The Freedom Battalion will consist of 4 patriotic and civic minded kids ranging in age from 4 – 11 who are willing to represent the newly formed Freedom Battalion in the Portage 4th of July parade, held on Saturday, July 3rd. 
Auditions will take place beginning at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 29th at the Portage Township YMCA. One child, either a boy or a girl, from each of 4 age groups will be selected. The group will ride on the Ogden Dunes fire truck with a parent or guardian during the parade. The winners will also receive a gift certificate for summer programming at the YMCA.
Criteria for entering are as follows: the applicant must have a friend or family member who served in the military, must be a Portage Township resident, and must be within the specified age group. Applicants will be interviewed at the auditions on June 29th. Questions will be related to Independence Day. Patriotic dress is encouraged for the auditions! Applications must be received by Monday, June 28th.
