Applications now open for La Porte’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee

The City of La Porte is now accepting applications for those interested in serving on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, according to Mayor Tom Dermody.

The committee, formerly known as the Human Rights Commission, was renamed by the City Council at the recommendation of City Councilman Tim Franke (R-At Large) in September. Dermody said the committee will serve as a resource to the city and community by providing information, education and training to help facilitate a better understanding of diversity.

"La Porte is a welcoming community, but there is certainly more we can do to celebrate diversity and be inclusive to all," Dermody said. "We are looking for motivated individuals with fresh ideas to help lead us as we continue to make improvements to our city. With the committee's guidance, I have no doubt that we can build on our momentum and make La Porte the place to be."

Applications can be found online at cityoflaporte.com and are due by Friday, Nov. 27. Appointments will be made at the City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 7. For more information, email ALoeffler@cityoflaportein.gov.
