Animal Shelter Announces 15th Annual Be Kind To Animals Celebration

Porter-County-Animal-Shelter-LogoThe Porter County Animal Shelter has announced that will be hosting it's 15th Annual Be Kind To Animals Celebration on Saturday, April 28th, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM at the Porter County Expo Center.

We are excited to continue the Shelter's proud tradition of hosting this event for the 15th year,” explained Shelter Director Jon Thomas. “The first week of May is Be Kind To Animals Week, and by hosting this celebration we hope to raise awareness of the plight of our homeless animal populations and recognize the contributions of those who care for them.”

The event will include offerings from area Rescue Groups, Shelters, Veterinarians, Trainers, Groomers and Pet Supply Companies. Admission to the event is FREE. It is also a pet-friendly event for leashed animals, and includes discounted micro-chipping by Arbor View Animal Hospital and pet photographs by Pretty Paws Pet Photographers. A percentage of the photo fee will be donated to the Porter County Animal Shelter.

Many of the homeless animals from the Shelter will be brought to the event,” stated Thomas, adding that on-site adoptions will be available during the event. “Anyone who adopts a pet from PCAS at the event will also qualify for free micro-chipping.”

The mission of the Porter County Animal Shelter is to promote and encourage the adoption of abandoned or surrendered animals. The Shelter is located at 2056 Heavilin Rd, Valparaiso. The Shelter is open to the public on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Noon until 6:00PM, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Noon until 8:00PM. The Shelter is closed to the public on Mondays.
