A Taste of What’s to Come at the 2015 Blue Chip Brewfest

The annual Blue Chip Brewfest is in a few weeks, and that means that for one special day brews will abound in one awesome space. We’ll be heading to the Blue Chip Casino, Hotel and Spa to cover the event in April, but before we do, let me tell you what Lady Lifer Jenny Craig and I did to give you a sneak peak of what guests can expect from the 2015 Blue Chip Brewfest.

We headed to William B.’s Steakhouse for a media preview for the Blue Chip Brewfest. 12 breweries set up shop in the restaurant, showing off their wares for us media folks so we could do a “taste and tell”.

Breweries in house were: 18th Street Brewery, The Boston Beer Company, Burn ‘Em Brewing, Chapman’s Brewing Company, Drewry’s Brewing Company, Figure Eight Brewing, Flat 12 Bierwerks, Hunter’s Brewing, Merchant Du Vin Corp., Shoreline Brewery, Triton Brewing Company, and Twisted K-8 Brewing.

Each brewery had multiple beers available for sampling and the kitchen staff at the Blue Chip created small bites that were paired with the different beers. We got to try delicious pairings like Twisted K-8’s Jackelope IPA with jalapeno poppers, Drewry’s Lager Beer with blackened swai fish tacos with avocado ranch sauce, and 18th Street’s Hunter Cherry Double Milk Stout with crab salad filled artichokes with lime vinaigrette. It was a wonderful way to show off the versatility of the beers, give the Blue Chip chefs a creative outlet, as well as provide a great way for the brewers to commiserate with like-minded individuals in an intimate and professional setting that only the Blue Chip can offer.

“We wanted to give people a taste of what was going on,” Jack Elia, Assistant General Manager for the Blue Chip Casino said. “We wanted to help these breweries out because they are helping us out with the Brewfest. We even have some of their beers on tap so our guests can enjoy some local beer and from the Brewfest we have built these great relationships and you will be seeing more of these collaborations happening.”

Not only does the Blue Chip work with the breweries, they work with us! We have a great partnership with the Blue Chip and we love bringing all of the good news that happens within the organization out into the world for all to appreciate.

Figure Eight Brewing, one of our other great partners, has been a faithful participant in the Blue Chip Brewfest for multiple years now. They are into anything that lets them celebrate their craft and the people who make it happen.

“This is our fourth year participating and we like to get our name out there and bring people to Northwest Indiana for great beer,” Tom Uban, owner of Figure Eight Brewing said. “This is a great thing. All of the brewers are tight-knit and we enjoy working together and that’s what draws people to the industry.”

The Brewfest will take place in the Stardust Event Center at the Blue Chip Casino on April 11, 2015. If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet then hurry up! They sell out quick so don’t miss one of the area’s best Brewfests. Click here to get your tickets!
