Martin Glennon manages and owns what was originally his dad’s insurance agency, Black Oak Insurance. Under his ownership, he relocated and renamed the agency. The agency, which is now named Levi Insurance, is located in Portage.
The agency sells home, auto, and business insurance. Between both Glennon’s and his dad’s ownership, the agency has been in business for approximately 30 years.
Martin’s grandfather also worked in the insurance industry. Between Martin, his dad, and his grandfather, three generations of this family have been affiliated in the industry.
“I am proud to be carrying a legacy that has provided for three generations of Glennons. We have helped tens of thousands of other families live a safer life,” he said. “I hope that one day, one of my kids will decide to do the same.”
Martin and his wife, Britney, have five children and plan to adopt a sixth in the coming weeks. The first five children range between the ages of 2 and 15 years old.
“My wife had two before we met,” he said. “I had one before we met. We had two more after we got married, and now we're adopting another baby girl.”
For Martin, family is everything. He loves having a big family and embraces the idea of adoption and fostering.
“My wife and I have a heart for children,” he said. “I grew up with seven siblings. I am not afraid of a big family. My wife grew up with foster kids in her home and also has adopted family members.”
Faith is a cornerstone for the Glennons, and it serves as a foundation for raising their family.
“As Christians, we see children as an opportunity to make the world better. Any kid that is raised in our house will be loved and may not have been loved elsewhere,” he said.
Prior to deciding to adopt their sixth child, the Glennons had long felt called to adopt and leaned on prayer when making the decision to formally seek adoption. Recently, they began the process for eligibility to adopt, which included taking adoption classes.
“During the time we were doing these classes, we discussed having another child. We decided that we would likely stop having children ourselves in order to foster care and adopt instead. God heard our discussion,” he said.
Not long after deciding to pursue adoption, the couple learned of a child in need of adoption.
“Shortly after that decision was made, we were approached by someone who was pregnant and did not have the means to raise the child. They didn't want to put their child in foster care though,” he said. “The only option they had was to let the child be adopted or to abort the child. We made an agreement with the mother that we would adopt her baby.”
The adoption is now weeks away, and the Glennons are thrilled.
“She will be born in the next few weeks. Our whole family is very excited about it,” he said.
While his role as owner of Levi Insurance is rewarding, Martin acknowledges and values the responsibilities that his wife holds as a full-time stay at home mom who homeschools most of their children.
“My wife Britney is a homemaker, but her job is harder than mine,” he said.
Between faith, family, and work, Glennon’s life is certainly full. All three play a diverse role in shaping his day-to-day experience and overall life.
