When it comes to capturing the moment, you can rely on Emily Bauknecht. What started off as a hobby then became a small business.
Last year, Bauknecht finally invested in a camera, which was the first step on her photography journey. She first started off taking photos of her friends and family until they started convincing her to start a photography account and run it as a small business.
“The more photos I took the more I realized how important it was to take photos. Since I realized how important it was to take photos, I wanted to make sure everyone else took photos also,” Bauknecht said.
Senior sessions, family sessions, portraits, pet photography, and weddings are all sessions that Bauknecht has to offer.
“Most of the time, your mind fails you when you look back on memories. Having a picture to look back on helps you remember how special a specific day was. I want my clients to be able to look back on a picture and be taken back in time,” Bauknecht said.
Bauknecht offers four photography packages: Quarts, Opal, Emerald, and Ruby. The Quarts package offers 15 edited digital images with a time frame of 30 minutes with only one outfit for $60. The Opal package offers 25 edited digital images with a time frame of 90 minutes, with 1-2 outfit changes for $75. The Emerald Package offers 35 edited digital images with a time frame of 90 minutes with 2-3 outfit changes for $100. The Ruby package offers 45 digital images with a time frame of 120 minutes this allows 3-4 outfit changes for $135.
Her passion does not stop at photography though, as her aspiration is to be a veterinary technician.
As an online college student at Penn Foster, having a full-time job at the Hobart Animal Clinic with a growing photography business can be hectic for Bauknecht.
The dream to be a vet tech started when Bauknecht was young. She was always a huge animal lover and now has eight pets to prove it – a dog, two cats, two chinchillas, a python, a gecko, and a hedgehog.
“I’ve always wanted to be a vet tech since I was little. I always had a passion for animals. I would bring home strays all the time even though my parents did not like it. I always wanted to help animals whenever possible,” Bauknecht said.
Sometimes her two passions combine, and she gets the best of both worlds. She will take photos of pets, some of which belong to her co-workers. Animal sessions are her absolute favorite.
Vaccines are important to an animal's health, which is something Bauknecht did not know until working towards being a vet tech. Vaccines not only benefit the pet but help humans by protecting them from zoonotic diseases that animals can carry.
“The field can be very rewarding because oftentimes pets come in sick, so when they are healthy again, owners are happy and beyond thankful,” said Bauknecht. “Animals are a part of families too and you can really see the love and bond between them and their owners.”
