The 3rd Annual Good Life Awards, an awards ceremony honoring six individuals who have impacted the “LIFE” networks in a positive way, is set to return on August 5th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Industrial Revolution Eatery & Grille, all while raising funds for two organizations that positively affect Northwest Indiana.
The annual event honors six awardees who go above and beyond to impact the Ideas in Motion Media good news networks - ValpoLife.com, PortageLife.com, LaPorteCountyLife.com and NWIndianaLife.com - in a positive and meaningful manner. Each winner is honored with a custom solid-steel Good Life Award trophy, designed and crafted by Industrial Revolution owner Mike Lesson. Funds from this year's event will go to benefit A Positive Approach to Teen Health and the La Porte County Family YMCA.
“The Good Life Awards are my favorite event of the year,” explained Ideas in Motion Media Publisher and CEO Chris Mahlmann. “We could not run around and share all of the positive stories happening in Northwest Indiana without the support of individuals and organizations who believe in us. Each year we get to honor a half dozen who help us do what we do, and ultimately make Northwest Indiana a better place to live and work.”
We are so excited to announce that US Congressman Pete Visclosky and Indiana Senator Edward Charbonneau will be the keynote speakers at this event, each sharing their view on the roles that positive people have working together to make significant impacts in the lives of the citizens of Northwest Indiana. The two leaders have been early, active, and engaged supporters of the vision behind our good news philosophy, and we are honored to have them kick off the awards night with their inspiring words.
The annual event raises funds for nonprofits serving Northwest Indiana. Previous organizations that have benefited from the GLAs include the Porter County Career and Technical Center, Portage Township YMCA, United Way of La Porte County and the Valpo Schools Foundation.
“We were truly honored to participate in the 2013 Good Life Awards, and the added opportunity to be a beneficiary was the icing on the cake! Six terrific Good Life Award winners received well-deserved appreciation and thanks for their contributions to making this world a better place,” explained Kris Pate, Executive Director of the United Way of La Porte County. “It was a fun-filled evening from beginning to end – great music, great food, and great camaraderie. The on-going support we receive from the Ideas in Motion Media team is priceless. Wherever we go in the community to promote what we call the “common good”, they’re there helping us get the word out and celebrate what happens when we LIVE UNITED. Chris Mahlmann and his staff have changed the definition of what’s newsworthy in Northwest Indiana. We’re definitely looking forward to this year’s awards event!”
“We cannot thank Ideas in Motion Media enough for their support of the Portage Township YMCA. The Good Life 2013 donation was applied directly to our Annual Campaign fund, which helps provide scholarships for child care, sports and aquatics programs, and memberships. As a charitable organization committed to promoting healthy living and youth development, it is our mission to make our programs accessible for every child, family and individual in our community, regardless of their ability to pay, explained Kathy Catania, Marketing Coordinator for the Portage Township YMCA. “Ideas in Motion Media believes in our mission and helps us in every way to get the good word out about the work we do and the offerings we provide. And they're fun to work with, too! Thank you, Chris Mahlmann and the Ideas in Motion Media team!”
