2015 Portage Transit Survey Deadline Extended

city of portagePortage residents now have until November 30 to complete the transit survey on the City’s website. The survey is part of a feasibility study the City has undertaken to determine if public transit is right for Portage.

The project is being directed by the Mayor’s Senior Advisory Committee, chaired by City Council President Sue Lynch. “We’ve had a great deal of feedback on the subject of transit in Portage so far and it is very encouraging,” said Lynch. The study will help determine if the city can support a public transit system and how it might be paid for. The transit study is being conducted by the consulting firm of SRF Consulting Group in partnership with the McCormick Group, Inc. and Connetics Transportation Group. The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) applied for the grant on behalf of the City and is providing staff support during the study.

The survey may be found at www.ci.portage.in.us. Paper copies are also available at City Hall and the Portage and South Haven branches of the Porter County Public Library.
