2014 Catwalk for the Cause, a Roaring Success!

2014-VNA-catwalk-for-a-causeStudents of Valparaiso University Law School’s Business Society recently walked the catwalk in support of the Visiting Nurse Association’s Meals on Wheels program, raising $3,200, with additional corporate gifts anticipated. Law student models wore fashions provided by Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, BCBGMaxAzria, and Aldo. They strutted their stuff to the delight of the audience filled with friends, family, VNA staff and volunteers and even guests from the community at large.

Catwalk for the Cause committee members met at the VNA recently to present proceeds from the event. “This was truly a group effort. The entire committee came together and worked hard to make it a success,” said committee member Katie Yarnelle. “Everyone of us even walked the catwalk.”

Committee member Reed Swift said “We know there are people out there who need help and VNA Meals on Wheels is there, thanks to the support of the community and groups like ours. The Law School administration was really amazed at how much we were able raise.”

VNA Meals on Wheels provides a hot lunch and also a suppertime meal for the ill, elderly and disabled in the community who are not able to prepare a nutritious meal for themselves. Last year, the VNA was able to provide meals for nearly 350 people in the community, thanks to the efforts of Meals on Wheels volunteers and support from the community.

“We’re excited to help out a local cause like VNA Meals on Wheels and really make a difference,” said committee member Jeremy Hahn, adding “The committee is already preparing for next year’s Catwalk for the Cause.”
