Kevin Kohn Memorial Homeward Bound 5k Walk/Run

You can help prevent Homelessness, get some exercise, and visit scenic Washington Park on the beach in Michigan City- all at the same time!

During any given year an estimated 1,500 LaPorte County women, children and men are considered homeless – and that doesn’t include ‘couch-surfers’ who stay with friends and family.

All funds raised will support Catholic Charities of LaPorte County, Gabriel’s Horn Homeless Shelter, Housing Opportunities, Keys to Hope Resource Center, LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity, Men’s Homeless Shelter, Michigan City Housing Authority, and Stepping Stone Shelter for Women. More agencies will be added to this list soon!

Event Details:
Manda's Race is the the series Championship Race for the Extra Mile Racing Series.  The race features a Champion’s Division along with an "all comers" Open Division. The Champion’s Race will start 5 minutes before the Open Division.  In order to participate in the Champion's Division a participant must have finished as the Overall or Masters Winner, or in the Top 5 in their age group at a qualifying race.
In the Open Division awards will be presented to the top male and female overall and master winners as well as to the top 3 finishers in each age group.  Top three in each age group as follows:
0-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69-, 70-74, 75-80, 80+

Additonally, the Overall and Masters winners and the top 3 in each age group 15 years and older will qualify for the Champion's Division at next year's race.

Event Details: The Potato Creek Trail runs will be an event for all skill levels and age groups. The course will have varying distances that will cater not only to the hardened ultra runner but also to the first timers who are new to the sport. Theses races will not only serve to expose athletes to the joys and excitement of trail running but will also expose an entire new, and diverse group of people to the natural beauty that exists at Potato Creek. The intent is to slowly and carefully grow the race each year; making certain the athlete has a quality experience regardless of number of entrants.

Events include a 13.1 Mile Mini Marathon, 26.2 Full Marathon, and 60K Ultra Marathon. The entry fees for each event are as follows: 13.1 - $45 before 4/1, $55 after, 26.2 - $55 before 4/1, $65 after, 60K - $65 before 4/1, $70 after. Race day registration and packet pick up will take place from 7 am till 7:30 with the race starting at 8 AM.

NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION FOR THE MARATHON OR ULTRA DISTANCE.

Monkey Wrench Madness-Mudslide at Sunset Hills will be a 5K Obstacle Race- An obstacle run set up over approximately a 5k course. There will be 25 obstacles, some man-made, some natural. We will limit each heat to 75 participants to help prevent crowding. There will be food, music, a kids obstacle course, and other entertainment in the common area. This will all be available after the heats start and until they end. Come out and bring your family and friends to Sunset Hills! Price includes parking, T-shirt, race registation, drink, and a snack after the race.

Registration closes at midnight, 3 days before the race.

The race is a pavement only 5k and kids’ 1k starting in Imagination Glen Park in Portage. The 5k course runs on both the Prairie-Duneland bike trail and the Iron Horse bike trail with many scenic views including running over 2 bridges that span Salt Creek. Each mom will receive a special award at the finish line!

Course Map
The course starts and ends at Crown Point's historic downtown square. The 2K run loops around Wheeler Middle School. The 5K run takes you through neighborhoods and down Court Street to the finish. There will be water stops on the 5K course at both mile markers. All streets will be closed to traffic during the race.

Race day pick-up is available but we strongly encourage you to pick up your packet before race day at the Southlake Y for a faster experience: Friday, May 3, 4-7 p.m. or Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Race Day Parking
Parking is available at Wheeler Middle School, St. Mary’s Church, Crown Point city streets and municipal lots. All vehicles parked on the square after 12:00 pm are subject to being towed to Midnight Blue Towing, 1502 E. North St., Crown Point. Race will be held rain, snow or shine.

About the Run:  Kent's Run 5K was established in honor of Kent Ribordy, a 16-year-old boy who loved farming, country music, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiles, go-carts, tractors and his pick-up truck.

Kent died of Leukemia on June 17, 2007, and although his loss has left a hole in the lives of those who knew him, his passion and intensity has left an indelible imprint on our hearts. In just five years, Kent’s Run has raised over $150,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!

The .9mi swim is from Wolf Lake Park pier.
BIKE

The biking is 24.8 miles. There is an out, then two loops. After completing two loops, the athletes will return back to transition. A major portion of the route is on a closed six lane freeway.
RUN

The run is 6.2 miles. The running portion of the event starts at Wolf Lake Park. Runners finish at the south end of the park.

It’s a summer time celebration at the Portage Marina! Come race a 5k, 10k, or kids’ 1k from Portage Marina and on the new Ameriplex bike trail at sunset! You can enjoy our summer Tiki theme with a most Hawaiian contest, and get lei’d at the finish line! Age group winners will receive pineapples, and all awards will be themed! We will also have a post-race party as the sun sets with a live band and beer garden. Come hang loose, run or walk, and dance into the night!

Necktie 5k Walk & Run

Race begins at the corner of Broadway and Lake Front Drive in Beverly Shores, Indiana

Join us Saturday, June 15 (Father’s Day Weekend) for the 6th annual Necktie 5K Walk & Run. As the name implies, all participants are encouraged to wear neckties during the run in recognition of fathers everywhere! Prizes will be awarded to participants with the most-creative neckties. This is the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your dad and enjoy beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

Kid's Sprint
This year we will again have a Kid's Sprint. The Sprint will take place at 7:45 AM (before the 5K) near the registration tables. It is free! Registration is not require. The Sprint is open to ages 8 and under. All kids who participate win a prize!

Family Health/Cancer Awareness Day 5K

The Foundation For Molecular Medicine is having an event on June 23rd that is a Family Health/Cancer Awareness Day.  This unique event will start with a 5K with four different healthy ways to arrive. Walking, running, and also biking and rowing. The walkers and runners will start from Chesterton Park. The biker and rowing clubs can start are varying points but all will meet at the Indiana Dunes State Park.

The uniqueness continues with four hours of family entertainment which includes face painting, kite flying, two local bands, and a magician. There is more, a fashion show that will focus on cover ups, showing how we should protect ourselves while out in the sun.  Being that it is Solstice weekend participants can end up staying with family and friends picnicking while enjoying the rest of the day.

A wetsuit is NOT required for this event. Swim cap and technical shirt will be provided at packet pick-up.

REGULATIONS
All participants must bring their PHOTO ID and USAT card with membership number to participate in this triathlon. If you do not bring your USAT card and number with you to race day, you must pay a $12 USAT permit fee in order to participate.
At PACKET PICK-UP for the Kid's Triathlon, a parent must be present with a proper PHOTO ID. Children triathletes must also present a USAT membership card and number. If they do not have one, they will have to pay a $10 USAT permit fee in order to particate.
All participants must wear a swim cap during the swim portion of this triathlon. A swim cap will be provided at packet pick-up.

Everyone loves ice cream! Come participate on a flat and fast half-marathon, 5k, or kids’ 1k, and receive an ice cream cone at the finish line! The 13.1 mile course is spent mostly on the Prairie-Duneland and Iron Horse bike trails with some surface roads. Almost half of the race will be shaded to help keep runners cool, as well as an early start. It is very flat and fast, time to set your personal best, and earn your finisher’s medal! The 5k course is on the Prairie-Duneland trail and neighborhood streets. It is a flat and fast course!
