1st Source Foundation recently awarded $14,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County in support of the “Power Hour: Making Minutes Count” homework assistance program provided in the Clubs. Thanks to 1st Source Foundation, members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County will have access to free tutoring services and help with their homework after school this year.
“Education is a top priority at 1st Source Bank,” said Bob Ax, 1st Source Regional President. “We’re glad to provide this donation and ensure kids at the Club can get the help they need with their homework.”
The “Power Hour: Making Minutes Count” program helps Club members come to view homework as an opportunity to learn to work independently, complete projects on time and feel positive about their accomplishments. “Power Hour: Making Minutes Count” is an interactive, after-school homework assistance program for children in grades K-12. Power Hour work is delivered in a fun environment with adults or older students serving as “Homework Helpers” to supervise completion of Club members’ homework.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of 1st Source Foundation,” said Chuck Leer, President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County. “In today’s educational climate, students need more support than ever to reach their academic potential. Having the ability to connect our members with adults who genuinely care and are willing to help them achieve academic success is vital to their future and the future of our communities.”
