The stormy weather didn't stop the Valpo Parks Foundation from making a change in our community. 1st Source Bank presented the Valplayso Children’s Committee with a check of $25,000 on the evening of Tuesday, December 16.
Bob Ax, 1st Source Bank's Regional President stated, “Valplayso not only unites Valparaiso but also the region. Out of all of the organizations we could help, we definitely believe that this one is making a visible difference on a day to day basis.”
Ax could not be anymore correct. For the past 20 years, Valparaiso’s Valplayso has brought smiles to thousands of children. In efforts to revive the playground, Valpo citizens took matters into their own hands and came together to renovate the previous playground into a modern, safe, and environmentally friendly facility. The Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation has been tirelessly working to maintain the upkeep and care of the park in anyway possible.
Valpo Parks Executive Director John Seibert said, “It’s always great to drive past and see kids playing even on a rainy day. It validates that all of the work our volunteers put in has paid off.”
Citizens of the community recognize the importance of maintaining a positive environment for our youth to grow up in. Despite the help of the thousands volunteers, the renovation could not have been possible without the help from several sponsors in the community.
1st Source Bank is one of the many companies, both locally and nationally, that continue to show their support through sponsorship and donations. The funds donated will be allocated to areas in need of maintenance in the park.
