100 Acts of Kindness Challenge

100 Acts of Kindness Challenge

Holladay Construction Group's Portage and LaGrange offices are teaming up with Holladay Properties to complete a 100 Acts of Kindness Challenge. The challenge began on November 13, in honor of World Kindness Day.

A board of 100 Acts of Kindness is posted in the Portage office and associates are encouraged to complete multiple items, as many times as they can. When someone completes an Act of Kindness, a star sticker is placed in the box of the corresponding act. The goal is to have the board completely covered in stars by December 20, 2019. After just 24 hours, 21 stars were already on the board.

Most acts are completed on an individual basis, but some are being coordinated as a group. Jessica Vargas and Michelle Mosier of Holladay Properties have taken the lead on coordinating the completion of soldier care packages, sending Christmas Cards to a children's hospital, and participating in an Angel Tree program.

In November, Holladay associates participated in "Operation Gratitude", through Meridian Title. Items from a wish list were purchased, donated, and dropped off to a local Meridian Title office. The goal of the program was to deliver 75,000 holiday care packages to soldiers overseas.

At a team meeting in December, associates filled out Christmas cards for the Cards for Hospitalized Kids program. Cards for Hospitalized Kids is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy & magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards.

Also in December, the Holladay team adopted an Angel Tree child through Housing Opportunities, a community-sustained nonprofit that resolves and prevents homelessness for adults, children, and seniors in Porter and LaPorte counties. The Portage team pulled together and gave generously, collecting nearly $400 to provide a great Christmas for a 12-year-old boy in the community. Donations were used to purchase gifts including a fishing pole and gear, a scooter and helmet, hats and gloves, a warm blanket, and gift cards.

To date, 75 Acts of Kindness have been completed and over 115 stickers have been placed on the board. With just one week left, the Holladay Construction Group and Holladay Properties are focusing their efforts to complete the last 25 Acts, which include making dinner for a family in need, donating blankets to a homeless shelter, donating supplies to a pet shelter, and buying school supplies for a teacher or classroom.
