PILATES REFORMER 101 WORKSHOPS

Pilates Reformer 101 Workshops
VALPARAISO FAMILY YMCA - STUDIO F
•Perfect for beginners, this instructional workshop focuses on learning the fundamentals of Pilates technique and basic reformer exercises as well as learning the nomenclature of the Pilates reformer apparatus.
•The goal of this workshop is to empower you to feel comfortable taking a Pilates reformer group class.

Three opportunities to choose from: 
Monday, August 26 10:15-11: 00 am with Alia 
Thursday, August 29 5:30-6: 15 pm with Cathy 
Saturday, August 31 9:00-9: 45 am with Irma

THIRTY-MINUTE HIGHLIGHTS TOUR

Learn a little bit about the award-winning PoCo Muse in a free thirty-minute highlights tour of the exhibits currently on display.

This tour will focus on Do Your Part! A County Responds to the First World War, We Are Porter County, From a Bailly Point of View, Prehistoric Porter County, and will end with a glimpse of open storage on the second floor presently closed to the general public.

Our highlights tour is free and open to the public, but reserving a ticket is required to attend as a limited number of spots are available.

Skip the drive-thru and swing by Rittenhouse Village At Portage for lunch with purpose. Enjoy chef-prepared hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips that will taste even sweeter when you realize that proceeds from your purchase will go directly to raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk.

WATERSHED WALK WITH MARY NELL

See What's Happening at Coffee Creek...
on a Watershed Walk with Mary Nell

Join naturalist Mary Nell Murphy for a relaxing stroll through the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve. Learn about the area’s history, look for migrating birds, identity trees, hunt for unique native plants, and maybe spot some steelhead trout in the creek! Join Mary Nell for the approximately one mile long hike. Stay tunes for future dates in this series of educational hikes in 2019.

Dress for the weather and meet at the Chesteron Amphitheater at 2401 Village Point, Chesterton. For more information, call the Coffee Creek Watershed Conservancy office at (219) 926-1842.

Mary Nell Murphy moved to NW Indiana when she retired in 2017 and loves it! She and her husband enjoy birding and traveling and exploring Hoosier territory. Meet this delightful docent on the trails at Coffee Creek.

GOAT YOGA AT THE PAV

Tickets: 
$15 per person (participants MUST be 10 years old or older w/adult)

Join us as we do yoga while goats wander around the yoga area. You may find them next to you, beneath you and maybe even on top of you! You and your friends can modify your pose to pet and play with the goats and maybe even stop to cuddle them! We encourage you to take a moment and connect with each other and the goats....we are sure it is a moment you will remember forever.... Spaces are limited tickets must be purchased prior to the event.

SUMMER’S ENDING HIKE

All ages welcome. Pre-registration required; please call 219-844-3188 Homeschool, scout and other groups are welcome to attend, but all families within a group must register individually. Summer is winding down for another year. Join us as we enjoy an evening hike around the woods to steal a few more summer moments.

AMERICANA NIGHT

Grand Finale of the WPFO's 20th season. Americana Night features trumpeter Aaron Romm playing Gershwin. Orchestra performs Appalachian Spring, 1812 Overture, Star and Stripes, and more. Fireworks with live music end the program conducted by Robert Vodnoy. Concert is FREE!
