Another great weekend ahead to just spend with friends and family! This Sunday is Mother’s Day, so be the best kid you can be and have some fun with Mom! Head out to the Schererville Party in the Park for games and food and drinks on Friday. On Saturday, grab your running shoes and race through Northwest Indiana in one of the local events. And, if running is not your thing, join Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr on his bike for the Region Riot Criterion Bike race! Then, on Sunday enjoy the day with brunch, flowers and family for the holiday. It is going to be another great weekend of memories with Mom!

Schererville Parks and Recreation's Party in the Park Event: Mother’s Day
The next party in the Park event held at Redar park in Schererville, is to celebrate the Mother’s in our lives. The event will include live entertainment by The Stingrays, food and craft vendors a beer and wine garden, games, contests, kids activities, and of course, Mom pampering fun!
Bus Tour of Shirley Heinze Land Trust
Shirley Heinze Land Trust will host an educational bus tour of its nature preserves. Staff, board members and guest speakers will provide insight on land conservation and the ecology geology, and history of NWI. The bus will drive through nature preserves in Lake, Porter, LaPorte county with brief walks at selected sites. Lunch will be provided!
Region Riot Criterium Bike Race
As a way to bring something different into the line of summer events, Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., in partnership with Region Racing Powered by Strack & Van Til is proud to bring the inaugural Region Riot Criterium bike race to the city of Hammond on Saturday, May 13. Stomp Out Cancer 5k Walk/Run
Stomp out Cancer by participating in this year’s Paint the Town Pink 5k Fun Run / Walk. The route follows the W/R Bike Trail, kicking off at Oil City Stadium in Whiting. The proceeds will go toward Northwest Indiana’s first mobile mammogram program.
MOMentum 5k Run
Head to the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve for a great race on a beautiful course! Run through the trails and along the boardwalks and finish with music blaring and food waiting! Awards are given to the winners of all age groups and for the kids race. Photography, a Bounce House, Face painting and more fun activities will be presented for after the race. All proceeds benefit Hannah’s Hope!
Michigan City Chamber Music Festival
The next concert of the Michigan City Chamber Music Festival will feature Rudolf Haken on the viola pomposa, performing “breaking Bach 5.” This is the second installment of Haken's history-making recording of all 12 solo string works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Rudolf's first all-Bach program last November was extremely well received by local audiences, and there is great excitement regarding this new recording.
City of Hobart Annual Trash or Treasure Garage Sale

24th Annual Gallery Gallop
The 24th annual Gallery Gallop is run at night along the Miller Beach sandy shores. A cash prize of $250 will be given to overall first place male and female winners and masters winners! The Gallery Gallop is produced by the Lake Street Gallery with the generous support of the Miller Business Association and the Miller Community Fund, Inc.
