Once Upon a Mattress at the Memorial Opera House
If you thought you knew the story of "The Princess and The Pea," you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that Lady Larken's love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste? Or that, in fact, it wasn't the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night?

Annual Lion's Club Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt
The Portage Lion's Club Annual Pancake, Sausage, and Biscuit Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held at Willowcreek Middle School on April 9, 2011, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Planetarium Night
For centuries, humanity has wondered whether we are alone in the Universe. Now, we are finally one step closer to knowing the answer. You'll explore what makes a planet "Earth-like" in the first place and take a full-dome tour of several worlds that just might fit the conditions that we are looking for. From water worlds to molten landscapes, inhabitable moons to planets with multiple suns, these exotic worlds aren't just science fiction anymore!

Super Sporty Saturdays at Horizon Gymnastics
Horizon Gymnastics Center is offering Super Sporty Saturdays on April 9, 16, and 30 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. Super Sporty Saturdays offer family fitness and fun for ages 3-14 and an adult. The activities include gymnastics, fitness Circuits, soccer, floor hockey, parachute play and group games.

Tim Sullivan at Wisecrackers
Tim Sullivan is one of the country’s most traveled comedians. Tim is referred to as the people’s comedian. His show is not intended to single anybody out or pick on you for using the restroom. His comedy is about making sure you have a great night out letting the days problems take a rest for an hour.

CEF of Northwest Indiana Annual Banquet
Child Evangelism Fellowship of Northwest Indiana will hold its annual banquet on April 8, 2011, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave, Chesterton, IN 46304. The theme this year is "Step up to the plate!". Our speaker will be Mickey Weston, Chaplain of the Chicago White Sox and former major league pitcher.

Cultural Festival
The Cultural Festival was created by Zak Spurlock and the Portage Youth Commission to show the people of Northwest Indiana a view into a different culture for a day. At Cultural Fest 2011, we will be having native live music, foods, arts and crafts, story telling, and much more

Try-outs for the 2011-2012 Angel teams are set for Saturday April 9th from 9am-12pm at Indiana Elite Gymnastics. If you or someone you know is between 3-18, and wants to be a part of Northwest Indiana's most ROCKIN' cheer program join us on April 9th at Indiana Elite Gymnastics.

Special Events at Forest Park and Creekside
April 8th, play the 9 hole course from the front tees at Creekside as a Par 3 course. Entry fees fund the prize pool. April 9, Forest Park is hosting a gross score Best Ball competition. Entry fees will fund the prize pool.

Chicago Street Theatre Offers Improvisation Workshop for High School Students
The Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso is offering an improvisation workshop for high school students. Workshop will be taught by Bob Craig. Classes start April 9.
