10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Beatles Night, Live Dancing, and Superheroes Show

Each week we will be bringing you 10 fun things to do in Northwest Indiana over the weekend, so you are never without something to do!

Beatles at the Barn 2012 "Here Comes the Sun"
Join County Line Orchard for a night of music dedicated to the Beatles and help raise money for the Food Bank of NWI. Featured bands include Chris & Lou, The Crawpuppies, and The MEGABEATLES. To add to the evening's excitement, a Rickenbacker 360 12-string guitar, worth $3,000, will be raffled off!

Live Dancing at the Hollywood Nights Showcase
Duneland Ballroom will host the Hollywood Nights Showcase on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 6 pm. Students and staff will be performing over 20 routines, followed by dinner and general dancing. The night is similar to a live version of Dancing with the Stars! A vintage Hollywood theme carries through the night, starting with a walk down the red carpet, and VIP star treatment throughout the night!

Spring Kids Closet Sale
The sale is open to the public and offers over 30 tables of gently worn baby and children’s clothing, gear and toys. It is an annual fundraiser for Mothers & More of Porter County. Mothers & More is a non-profit National organization dedicated to improving the lives of mothers through support, education and advocacy.

Fitness Fridays Offer Public Weekly Walking, Running Group
Fitness Fridays continue this weekend, beginning at the YMCA in La Porte. Participants may walk or run along a scenic 5K route that starts in downtown La Porte at the intersection of Maple and Michigan avenues, ventures by the historic homes and down the tree-lined streets of Michigan Avenue, passes through the Beechwood Golf Course and returns back to the Y. Fitness Fridays came to fruition as an initiative to promote fitness and active lifestyles.

Superheroes: Super Fly in 3-D!
On Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21th, at 7:00 PM, the Valparaiso High School Drama Club will be preforming something out of this world. Is it a plane? No! Purple people eaters? No! It's Captain Valparaiso and the Super Teens! The gang is flying in to save the day from none other than himself, Mr. Dr. Professor Bad Guy and his Super Villains! Come see this play within a talent show, featuring many of VHS's talented students.

Team Up 2 Clean Up with Portage Township Parks
Portage TOWNSHIP Parks Dept.’s 2nd Annual Team Up 2 Clean-Up event is scheduled on Saturday, April 21st, 2012 from 9am-noon. In celebration of Earth Day, volunteers will come together to beautify Haven Hollow and Field of Dreams Parks in South Haven, Indiana. Volunteers are needed to pick up trash, sort recyclables, rake ditches, stain picnic shelters, prune and plant flowers. After work day is complete, volunteers are invited to stay for a luncheon cookout.

PNC Theatre to Stage Shakespeare's "Henry IV, Part 1"
PNC Theatre and the PNC Players of Purdue University North Central will present a production of William Shakespeare's "Henry IV, Part 1" at the Mainstreet Theatre in Michigan City. The play presents an irreverent history lesson from the most outrageously irreverent of Shakespeare's plays about English history. It is a madly inclusive play, a whirlwind tour of England from the king's court to the raucous nightlife in the Boar's Head tavern and further to the working poor and dregs of English society.

Earth Day 2012 to Feature Environmental Family Fun
The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County invites residents from Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties and beyond to become inspired, educated and entertained at the 2012 Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration. The seventh annual Celebration features two live animal shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the return of the Recycle Cycle, a silly contraption made out of reused items. Other programs taking the stage range from greening your grass, to greening your home, dealing with lost wildlife babies, qigong, alternative fuel vehicles, and more.

Rebuilding Together Preps for Valpo Workday On April 21
Rebuilding Together of Valparaiso is once again gearing up to help more than 21 local homeowners improve their homes so that they can have a safe environment that they may move freely in. This year’s project consists of adding insulation and handrails, replacing roofs, repairing water damaged floors and ceilings, installing wheelchair ramps and accessible showers with grab bars.

South Haven Little League Hosting Free Pitch, Hit & Run Competition
South Haven Little League will host a free Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth. Competitors are divided up into four age divisions 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. The individual Pitching, Hitting, and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age group at the local competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition.
