10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Baseball Caravan, Friday Night Concert, and Theatrical Productions


Each week we will be bringing you 10 fun things to do in Northwest Indiana over the weekend, so you are never without something to do! This weekend a baseball caravan, a Harley party, animal celebrations, a day of giving, a concert, theatrical productions, healthy kids day, talent show, and more are all on tap for a fun weekend in Northwest Indiana!

In order to further excite the fan base for Opening Day on May 16, the RailCats will be coming out into the community on the first-ever RailCats Caravan! The Caravan will be driven in a limousine bus from Southlake Limousine Service and will make four stops at locations throughout the Region. The RailCats crew will be interacting with fans, signing autographs and spreading the word about the upcoming season.

Harley-Davidson of Michigan City Offers Garage Party for the Ladies
Hey ladies! Are you looking to get your own motorcycle but not quite sure how to go about getting one? Well, the Harley-Davidson Shop of Michigan City is ready to help. On April 26, 2013 a Garage Party will be hosted at the shop from 6-8pm. The knowledgeable staff will talk about how you can get started. They will show you how to design, fit and personalize your bike to fit your needs and be as awesome and unique as you are.

Be Kind to Animals is celebrated by animal shelters throughout the country to raise awareness about animals in our homes and communities and to celebrate the unique bond between humans and animals. Children of all ages will have a chance to see Dr. McAfee of McAfee Animal Hospital do a wildlife demonstration, and have their face painted. Touch a Truck by the Porter County Sheriff’s Department will offer an interactive experience with an Animal Control Officer and his vehicle.

Unity Give Day Kicks Off Friday
A fun, competitive atmosphere will prevail April 26-27 as Unity Foundation of La Porte County celebrates its 20th anniversary with a 39-hour Give Day event. Several special prizes also will be given out during the 39-hour event, leading the participating funds to strategize in hopes of winning some special prizes to earn a piece of an additional $5,000.

All The People Tour Coming to Calvary
Calvary Church will be hosting a concert on Friday, April 26th. All four bands are national recording artists. Sevenglory, a band who are based in Valparaiso will open the show. They will be followed by the band, Bellarive. Next up, is Chris August, who has won 3 Dove Awards. The show will close with Matt Maher, also a Dove winner.

Elston to Stage "Cinderella's Fella"
Elston Middle School will give a classic fairytale a techno-twist as they present the play, "Cinderella's Fella" on Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th. In this modern take on the Cinderella tale, Prince Humphrey uses his computer to court a cyber-honey -- much to the dismay of his mother, the Queen. She hires a Fairy Godmother to turn her lazy son into Prince Charming so he can find a real bride.

Classic Story Continues on Chicago Street Theatre Stage
The Graduate runs its final weekend on the theatre's stage. The story is of Benjamin Braddock, a recent college graduate who returns home with no clear idea of what to do with his life. He becomes involved with the wife of his father’s business partner, the iconic Mrs. Robinson character, but soon finds himself falling for her daughter. The production offers a fresh take on the material, a unique experience for both audience members who are familiar with the story, and those seeing it for the first time.

It's a Great Day to get a Jump on Summer
Healthy Kids Day® is a way for kids to get a jump on a summer full of activities. Expect sports, food and crafts that promote a healthy lifestyle in order to keep your kids growing and achieving! This exciting event is free and open to the community.

This event will be draw over 200 runners/walkers and dog walkers. There will be" amazing goodie bags" for all of those participating in the race/walk. For those who are not participating in the run/walk, many vendors with home baked goods for you and for your pets, craft booths and raffles to benefit the Independent Cat Shelter will be available to purchase and/or bid on.

City's Got Talent!
Michigan City High School's Student Council invites the community to attend its annual high school talent show, "City's Got Talent!" Several community members will serve as judges for this year's show. Among the acts that will perform are singers, dancers, a rock band, and a saxophonist.
