9th Annual Parenting Awareness Month Indiana Fair
The Parenting Resource Fair, located this year at 1775 W. 41st Ave in Gary, will as usual be chock full of fun, games, and giveaways for both parents and youth. Community family services providers will be available with information and help on how to access needed family resources in the Region, including food, utilities, housing, activities for youth, bullying strategies and solutions, counseling, and healthcare. Entertainment is also scheduled, like magic, face painting, and music.

Portage Education Foundation with Support of the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce to host 2015 Brewfest
With the generous support of the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce the Portage Township Education Foundation will be hosting its annual fundraiser. “Brewfest” is now in its second year! On April 17, join the community at Woodland Park, Portage, IN from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Craft Beer, Wine and hors d'oeuvres will accompany a silent auction and live auction. Auction items will include a variety of items from sports memorabilia to gift baskets and everything in between. Cash, check or charge will be accepted at the event for the auction items. All attendees must be 21 or older to attend.

Chicago Street Theatre Presents: The Angels of Lemnos
Chicago Street Theatre is thrilled to be bringing back the play that began the group's foray into producing new works with The Angels of Lemnos on April 10. The award-winning drama, runs through April 25, and is the first play penned by Jim Henry, who now serves as CST's Resident Playwright and Literary Agent. The Angels of Lemnos tells the story of Nathan Spandrel, a homeless man who has fallen through the cracks of society. The character's life is turned upside down when he discovers an infant that he believes is a fallen angel that he must return to Heaven.

Dinner Theater at the Old Courthouse - "Let's Get Hitched"
The play is called 'Let's Get Hitched' and is about the old Marriage Mill that occurred here in Crown Point in the 1920's during the prohibition period. The play portrays many of the local people that were involved in the era when Rudolph Valentino and many other famous people came here to get married or 'hitched' . Actually one of our Court House directors and Museum President, Bruce Woods plays the part of Judge Alvin Guske! 

Portage High School Thespians Present "Godspell" Beginning April 17, 2015
The Portage High School Thespians present their spring musical GODSPELL. Opening on Broadway in 1971, this marks the 40th of its first production at PHS in the spring of 1975. PHS was one of the first to bring GODSPELL to the stage after the rights were released, a huge success it was held over at the school for an encore show to standing room only crowds. 

Mayor McDermott & Hammond Marina Presents: Fishing Derby
On Saturday, April 18th (no rain date) from 7 am to 4 pm, fish to your heart’s content on the outer Lake Michigan Bin Wall or on the inside docks Marina- West end, Bin Wall only. This is a land and dock fishing event only, no boats are allowed.

The Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry is inviting everyone to join them for their 4th Birthday Party which is being held Saturday April 18th from 12-4pm at their new location located at 154 S. Illinois St. *Just North of T’s Pizza The pantry is celebrating their 4th year serving families across NW Indiana, and they couldn’t be more excited says the pantry’s Founder, Michelle Duca. In April of 2011 the Kibble Kitchen opened their doors to the families facing troubles feeding their beloved pets. Since the pantry’s opening in 2011 they have been providing thousands of bowls of pet food, spaying & neutering hundreds of dogs & cats, rescuing injured cats & kittens from shelters, and helping rescues & shelters in 3 states with pet food.

Unleash Your Inner Athlete at the Michigan City Elston YMCA
We have a special event planned for the evening of April 18th...a Family Night Out! This event will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm to bring the community together in order to show all that the Y has to offer. The event will be free to current Y members and $15 for non-member families. We will be opening up the pool and gyms for activities and fun for families of all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Come join us for an evening of fun and fellowship. 

La Porte County Symphony Orchestra Hosts Dinner and Concert with Purdue Varsity Glee Club
Music Director, Philip Bauman, leads the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra at the La Porte Civic Auditorium on Saturday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. for the Robert J. Hiler Family Foundation April Pops Concert featuring the Purdue Varsity Glee Club under the direction of William Griffel. Table seats on the floor are sold out. Balcony seats are $20 for adults and $18 for seniors. An optional, pre-concert dinner begins at 6:00 p.m., and costs $50, with a combination dinner/concert ticket available for $80.
