10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: 1940’s Dinner, Puppy Meet and Greet, and Winter Fest


Each week we will be bringing you 10 fun things to do in Northwest Indiana over the weekend, so you are never without something to do! This weekend a 1940s dinner, a puppy meet and greet, an ice sculpture event, a concert, an exercise event, a pancake breakfast, a wine fundraiser, a polar plunge, a beer pong fundraiser, a fundraising basketball game, and more are all on tap for a fun weekend in Northwest Indiana!

Folds of Honor Invites You Back to the 1940's
The Folds of Honor Foundation’s NWI Fund Raising Committee will be hosting a fundraising charity dinner with the leadership of Don Quijote's Carlos Rivero and Elena Jambrina at Don Quijote Restaurante on January 26th at 4 pm. This dinner will be a five course meal, paired with wine for each course. This dinner will take us back to the USO Clubs of the 1940’s rebuilding that warm, friendly feeling when the US Soldiers had a place to call home when they were far away.

Puppy breath is in the air at this Lakeshore PAWS adoption event. Lakeshore PAWS puppies will be available to meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 25 at Lifestyles, 122 Lincolnway, Valparaiso, Ind.

Ice Sculptures Coming to Downtown La Porte to Kick Off Winter Fest
Art comes in many forms. In downtown La Porte, art is coming in the form of ice sculptures to help launch WinterFest, the City of La Porte Park Department's days of winter activities. From 3pm to 6pm on January 24th, people can come downtown and see the ice sculptures being made live by the ice artists. There are many other great winter events going on that weekend following the ice sculptures downtown including fitness activities, carriage rides, an ice fishing derby and much more.

Continue the tradition of Fitness Fridays! Join us for fun-filled activities at various events throughout the winter. This weekend, come out to the Civic Auditorium for a Zumbathon! All fitness events begin at 4:15 pm- arrive early to register!

Pancake Breakfast to Benefit Rebuilding Efforts
Come join Portage Rebuilding Together, formerly Christmas in April, at their Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, January 25th. All proceeds will be to benefit Rebuild Day on April 26th. Breakfast will be served by the board consisting of pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee and juice.

Join South Shore Orchestra for an evening of fine wine and delicious dining at their annual wine dinner on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Midnight Cellars Winery and Vineyard in Paso Robles, California will be the guest vintner for the dinner prepared by Nicole Bissonette of Bistro 157. This major SSO fundraiser helps to generate a portion of funding for the year’s operating budget.

Are You Ready to Take the Plunge?
On January 25, 2014 the 13th annual LPBS Polar Plunge will take place at Oak Street Beach in Chicago, Illinois. We will take the plunge at noon and then we'll be going to an after party at Fatpour Tapworks on Division where there will be drink specials, prizes, raffles, and a ton more. The Lakeview Polar Bear Club raises money that goes directly to families who need it most.

Pong for Pasko Benefit
A benefit is taking place to aid Adam Paskevich and his family. Adam Paskevich suffered severe burns on over 35% of his body during a house fire last month. What better way to help then to have a Beer Pong Tournament in his honor? The benefit will take place on January 26, 2014 at Moods Pub in the Portage Mall.

Boston Middle School Hosting Annual Red Out Game
Boston Middle School will be hosting the American Heart Association Red Out Basketball Game on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 3:00- 4:00 PM! The game is also for Riley’s Children’s Hospital which is sponsored by the Boston Student Council.
