Based on the original CBS holiday special by Charles M. Schulz, Lee Mendelson, and Bill Melendez that debuted on December 9, 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas tells the story of Schulz's adored "Blockhead", Charlie Brown who is feeling down despite it being one of the most joyous times of the year. In an effort to cheer him up, Brown's fellow Peanuts characters convince him to direct the neighborhood Christmas play.

Started in 2015 by outdoor retailer REI, #OptOutside is not just about Black Friday. It's about choosing life outdoors and living a little more simply, even just for a day. You can join us for this hike Friday November 23 at Lemon Lake from 4:30-6PM. You can hike as the sun sets and the full moon rises while enjoying a late fall evening. This free program is recommended for ages 5 and up.

Downtown La Porte - La Porte, IN
Baby its cold outside, and Santa is getting ready to come to downtown La Porte! The parade runs through downtown and ends at Santa's Chalet in the Plaza 618, 618 Lincolnway in Downtown La Porte. After the parade, children can visit with newly-arrived Santa at his chalet.
November 24th - Hometown Celebration & Twilight Parade
Downtown Chesterton - Chesterton, IN
The Chesterton Hometown Celebration and Twilight Christmas Parade, will be held on the 3rd Saturday in November., from 2 pm- 8 pm,. Carriage Rides Begin at 2pm. Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 5pm. Holiday Open Houses downtown with hot cocoa from 4 pm -8 pm, with snacks available for purchase. Local shops and restaurants will be participating in Duneland's Retail Open House event.
November 24th - Crown Point Winter Market
Crown Point Courthouse - Crown Point, Indiana
The Crown Point Winter Market will be on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place in the Maki Ballroom in the Courthouse. An assortment of vendors will be in attendance, ranging from food to crafts to clothing. For more information, call 219-662-3290.

November 24th - Douglas Center Open House at National Lakeshore
Douglas Center - Lake Station, IN
Enjoy hands-on family activities in the park's west end visitor center, especially the new Nature Play Zone where unstructured play in nature is the tradition. Help feed the center's resident turtles or fish. Also, you can join a ranger for a hike in Miller Woods. The open houses will be held every Saturday all year round and on Sundays during the summer months.
