May 18: Stand Up For St. Jude House - Schererville, IN
Stand Up for St. Jude House, an event filled with laughs and entertainment, will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018. The event will include opportunities for networking, cocktails, a silent auction, a special tribute to law enforcement, live music, and a stand-up comedy show. This year’s featured comic is Mike Toomey, a regular performer on WGN Morning News!
May 18: Boys & Girls Club of Michigan City Annual Steak & Burger Dinner - Michigan City, IN
The Steak & Burger Dinner provides members of the community an opportunity to interact directly with Michigan City’s youth while raising funds for The Boys & Girls Club of Michigan City. This annual event draws local civic and community leaders, Club members and staff. The children eat steaks, and the adults eat burgers because it’s nothing but the best for our kids! Michigan City’s own Megan Applegate, CPA will be the keynote speaker this year.

Portage Parks lakefront and riverwalk pavilions are available for rental as the weather warms, or you just want to get out and take a stroll by the water with the family and bask in the spring!
May 19: Crown Point Historic Preservation Commission Walking Tour of Downtown Historic District - Crown Point, IN
The Crown Point Historic Preservation Commission is planning to host a walking tour of the Downtown Historic District on Saturday, May 19th from 1-3:30pm. In the event of inclement weather the tour will be held on Sunday, May 20th. Interested participants should plan to meet at the Old Homestead located at 227 S. Court St. prior to the 1pm start. May 19: Porter Regional Hospital Fast-Track Childbirth Education - Valparaiso, IN
Spend one full Saturday in this expedited version of the Childbirth Education class to learn all of the aspects of pregnancy and birth. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 19, in the Women & Children’s Pavilion classroom at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso. May 19: South Haven Boys & Girls Club Mother/Son Dance - Valparaiso, IN
Join us for a night of dancing with your son! Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Event starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Youth of all ages welcome, open to the community! Registration open to the first 50 families. Cost is $20 per family. Cost includes: salad, pizza, punch, cake and entertainment Mothers (aunts, sisters, neighbors and more), grab the young man in your life and get ready for a night of entertainment as you hit the dance floor! May 20: The Polish Heritage Association of Michigan City Paderewski Ceremony - Michigan City, IN
The Polish Heritage Association of Michigan City will host an afternoon celebrating the legacy of Polish composer, politician and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 20th, at the Friendship Botanic Gardens, 2055 E. US Hwy. 12, in Michigan City, IN. A dedication of a bronze bust of Paderewski (created by area artist Dora Natella) will be held in the Polish Garden, with a blessing by Fr. Steve Kosinski. A social hour with light refreshments will follow. The free event is open to the public; seating is limited, and guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs.
