Each week we will be bringing you 10 fun things to do in Northwest Indiana over the weekend, so you are never without something to do! This weekend a winter festival, fundraising events, clay class, pancake breakfast, family hike, karate tournament, gardening show, and interactive exhibit are all on tap for a fun weekend in Northwest Indiana!

La Porte Winterfest Promises A Good Time
A week's worth of fun events kicks off this weekend in La Porte, with Winterfest! Events featured this weekend include a Zumba Fundraiser from IU La Porte Health and the La Porte County Family YMCA at the Civic Center on Friday and a pancake breakfast on Sunday!

Original artwork created by seven-year-old, Valparaiso-resident Rosa Cohn and her fellow classmates at TJ Elementary School is on display at Blackbird Cafe through January 18. On the 18th, the art show will conclude with a party for the young artists and their families at 6 pm.

Rock out with the Region Rat Rollers on Saturday, January 19, at their Fundraiser Rock Show! The show will feature the music of Diablero, Cloak Room, and Old Man Mason. Doors open at 6 pm! Other entertainment that night includes arm wrestling and the return of Pay-To-Be-Pummeled!

La Porte Jaycees Give-Back Night
Saturday, January 19 at 8:00 p.m. is a Give-Back night at Waterford Inn to benefit the Jaycees. Cover is $3 and the Point'n Fingers Band will be doing their debut performance for 2013. It's sure to be a GREAT time!

The Chesterton Art Center will be hosting the January edition of Mudslingers on Friday, January 18. Mudslingers is a clay class where students will learn the basics of handbuilding. Students can make a cup, bowl or something totally original.

Kiwanis Club of La Porte Annual Pancake Breakfast
The Annual Sausage, Egg & Pancake Breakfast that benefits the Kiwanis Club of La Porte takes place this Sunday. The breakfast features an all-you-can-eat buffet of pancakes, sausage, eggs, and drinks all prepared by local volunteers and Kiwanians.

Families and groups are invited to learn about the winter homes of the wildlife at Sunset Hill Farm during this free program on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. The program will include indoor education and a short hike.

Kick it into gear with Valpo ATA at their Merrillville tournament this January 19th. Support the team as they compete and catch up with their practices, now streaming live!

The 10th Annual Gardening Show sponsored by Purdue Extension & its Porter County Master Gardeners Association will be held Jan. 19. The Gardening Show, winner of the 2009 Festival of the Year Award, features presentations by national, regional, and local gardening experts, special lodging and dining packages, a seed and bulb exchange, garden photography contest, children's corner, and food service.

The Porter County Community Foundation is hosting Indiana Humanities “Spirit of Competition” exhibit at the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts through February 7th. This traveling exhibit includes engaging interactive opportunities such as a bicycle to match Major Taylor’s track speed, a chance to build John Wooden's Pyramid of Success, debate podiums, a mascot photo op, information about items invented in Indiana and a scoreboard that shows statistics about where Indiana ranks in the world on a variety of topics.
