In an emergency, fire, ambulance, police calls, and other first responders arrive at a business or home with little more data than the 911 cry for help. A new service in Porter County, Smart911, will allow companies and others to register site-specific information for these responders. Information might include the location of the offices/bedrooms, access code to secured areas, number and variety of pets, hazardous materials, and other pertinent data.
Paige Connelly, Public Information Officer for the Porter County Central Communications Center will be speaking about this new public service at the Porter County Substance Abuse Council’s monthly meeting.
The Porter County Substance Abuse Council will meet at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 10 at the Valparaiso Library, 103 Jefferson Street. Meetings are free and open to the public.
Dedicated to working for a drug-free Porter County, the Substance Abuse Council is a coalition of treatment facilities, education providers, members of the justice community and concerned citizens. A member of the Governor’s Commission for a Drug Free Indiana, the Council has been providing funding to community resources for over fifteen years.
