Nearly 15 years ago the Portage Fire Department Local 3151 built and donated a sturdy wooden fire truck to the Portage Youth Services Department. The fire truck was designed to hold books on fire safety as well as provide a place for children to climb and pretend to be real firefighters. On a recent visit Chief Tom Fieffer noticed the well loved fire truck was need of some TLC and took it back to the firehouse for some refurbishing.
The truck was much missed by our young patrons but we are happy to report that the truck is back and sturdier than before! The shelves are reinforced, the fire hose repaired, it shines with new paint and proudly displays symbol for the Local 3151.
