Lake Central High School hosted Portage and Valparaiso High School cross country in a 3-way meet on Sept. 20, 2011. These very talented athletes gave it their all. Portage had 4 runners place in the top 20. Taylor Hudson placed 6th with a time of 17:39, 12 Tim Huber 17:55, 17 Dustin Balboa 18:02 and 18 David Clegg 18:03.
The course at Lake Central is a new one for many of the runners. The course had many turns and paths to navigate. Being unfamiliar with the course, this caused timing and placement issues for the final results and times of the runners and teams. This also resulted in 3 Valpo runners being disqualified.
Portage cross country maintained patience and good sportsmanship despite the difficulty with scoring and placement. The Duneland Athletic Conference (D.A.C) will be run on the Lake Central course on October 1, 2011 at 11am. Having the chance to run and preview this course during the 3-way gives Portage the opportunity the be familiar with the course and ready to run hard and run to win for the D.A.C.
