The Mardi Gras Unmasked Benefit Gala took place at Duneland Falls Banquet Center as part of the efforts toward Rebuilding Together Portage, a foundation that has helped over 150 homeowners, who are physically limited in repairing and maintaining their homes.
They put together a silent itemized auction in which the proceeds would benefit these homeowners, such as Blue Man Group tickets, orchestral concert tickets, various celebrity-signed photographs, as well as multiple gift packages with an assortment of contributions. They hosted a wine and beer tasting as well, as part of the festivities of the Mardi Gras motif.
After singing the national anthem, Mayor Olga Velazquez personally thanked the attendees, “All of you who have come here today are doing your part to share in Rebuilding Together’s mission to help our citizens improve their homes, improve the quality of life, and I sincerely appreciate your efforts.”
With the help of over 350 volunteers, Rebuilding Together continues in its effort to help the less fortunate citizens of the Portage community, and events like the Mardi Gras Festival are a great way to contribute.
