As you may already know, on Tuesday, February 15 Housing Opportunities became the new owners of Spring Valley on Calumet in Valparaiso. This, along with housing soon to come in Michigan City, has created a growing need for non-perishable food, paper products, as well as soaps and detergents. In addition to the homeless families and individuals served by Housing Opportunities, many other low-income families are beneficiaries of HO’s food pantry as well.
The Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana and Housing Opportunities, Inc. are partnering together to collect needed non-perishable food and other products during the 33rd Annual Home & Garden Show at the Porter County Expo Center, running March 10 – 13, 2011.
Each visitor to the Home & Garden show will receive $2 off the admission price when they donate two non-perishable food items, laundry detergent, toilet paper, etc. to Housing Opportunities. During the Show, volunteers from HO will be available to receive your donations inside the entrance to the Expo Center.
North Coast Distributing in Valparaiso has generously offered the use of a truck and driver to transport the donated food to Spring Valley at the end of each day of the Show.
Please plan on attending this year’s Home & Garden Show, and bring two items for each person in your group. Thank you, and see you at the Show!
