Franciscan Health is hosting two free LaPorte County car seat safety events in September.
The first event will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Central on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the LaPorte County Family Resource Center, 1232 W. State Road 2 in La Porte. The second event will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Central on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Franciscan Health Michigan City Legacy Campus, 301 W. Homer St. in Michigan City.
A certified technician will work with participants to teach them how to properly install a car seat. The child who uses the car seat must be present at the appointment in order for the technician to provide appropriate guidance. Upon completion of the appointment, participants should be able to install a car seat safely.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration recommends all drivers who transport young children in passenger vehicles have their car seats checked by a certified technician.
The events are free, but reservations are required. To schedule an appointment for the La Porte event, please register online. To schedule an appointment for the Michigan City event, please register online. Registration for either event can also be made by calling (219) 488-1380.
