For the 11th year in a row, NIPSCO and its employees spent the holiday season benefiting others.
NIPSCO’s Hope for the Holiday’s campaign combines donations from both the company and employees to support various community service organizations around its servicing area.
“The sense of fulfillment that comes with giving back to the community is unmatched, and we are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference,” said Mike Hooper, NIPSCO president.
After 11 years, Hope for the Holidays has become an essential part of the holiday season for NIPSCO employees. In fact, NIPSCO staff eagerly participate and look forward to Hope for the Holidays year after year.
“Our critical mission is to deliver safe and reliable electric and natural gas that drives value to our customers,” said Tara McElmurray communications manager. “Service to our customers and communities takes many forms, and a key component of that is forming relationships and giving back to the communities where we are privileged to live and work.”
For the 2023 Hope for the Holidays, NIPSCO employees donated more than 1,000 toys to eight Toys for Tots organizations located throughout the NIPSCO service area. NIPSCO’s mission is to improve the lives of the communities in which it serves – a mission it celebrates year-round.
“Our ‘Hope for the Holidays’ initiative is just one of the many ways in which we strive to create a positive impact in the communities we’re privileged to serve,” said Hooper. “We look forward to continuing this tradition of giving and spreading hope and cheer to those in need.”
NIPSCO’s contribution towards the Toys for Tots program is just one of the many initiatives the company has undertaken this holiday season.
Recently, the organization gifted 200 bags filled with toiletries and other supplies to Gabriel’s Horn of Porter County and the Crisis Center of Lake County.
In keeping with this giving spirit, NIPSCO has been teaming up with various non-profit organizations and programs throughout northern Indiana to donate employee volunteer hours and/or more than $150,000 in company and employee donations.
The community partnerships include:
• Blessings in a Backpack of Fort Wayne
• Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Indiana
• Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana
