The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana's Duneland Club is thrilled to announce it will host a Major League Baseball® Pitch, Hit & Run™ (PHR™) competition. The event will be held at Chesterton High School, June 27th, 9:00 - 11:30 AM.
Open to boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14, this free, one-day event aims to encourage kids to stay active and participate in baseball and softball. The competition consists of essential movements in baseball and softball, with athletes' measurements and scores recorded.
"Our main goal at our Duneland Club is to create a fun and safe environment for children to learn and grow," said Natalie Birky, Program Director of the Duneland Boys & Girls Club, "The Pitch, Hit & Run™competition is a wonderful opportunity to foster love for baseball and softball in our community and to provide an exciting platform for our young athletes to showcase their skills."
The PHR competition is divided into four age divisions: the 7-8 Division, 9-10 Division, 11-12 Division, and 13-14 Division, for both Baseball and Softball categories.
Medals will be awarded to the top three performers in each division. These high achievers will not only receive recognition for their accomplishments but also may have the opportunity to advance to further MLB competitions.
"This is more than just a competition; it's a stepping stone for potential future baseball and softball stars from our community. Every participant will gain valuable experience, and winners may even get the chance to compete on a national stage," added Club Director Ron Ranta.
