The Portage Parks department and Morgan Mikenas Music proudly present “Mothers Day for Mother Earth”. Join us Sunday, May 14th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm for this FREE community event at Woodland Park in Portage!
Morgan Mikenas (MMM) is an emerging artist from the region. She has recently released her original musical project titled “Yet.” This project consists of a studio version, paired with a video that was written and directed by Mikenas. Last week she released the acoustic version which was filmed and recorded at the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University. Both versions can be experienced on her website.
After a successful winter tour that took her all over the Midwest, Mikenas started working on her newest creation which will be debuted this Mothers Day at Woodland Park in Portage. Her “Plant for Pollinators” campaign is a fun and creative educational experience for all ages. Mikenas has designed and created her hand drawn images into a series of coloring pages that transcend the beauty of nature, with the promise of making a positive impact to the future of our planet. Colored pencils, markers, and crayons will be provided for the first ever “Plant for Pollinators” LIVE coloring contest. A portion of the event will be dedicated towards spending time teaching the attendees how to plant wildflower seeds, completed with a guide of the wildflowers that naturally grow in our region. Seed packets to take home and plant your very own gardens will be available for just $1.
Morgan will play a live set of her original music works in the park.
