Porter County Expo Center Invites All to the Biggest Bargain Event of the Fall

The wait is almost over! The Gigantic Indoor Garage Sale at the Porter County Expo Center is scheduled for Saturday, November 6th. This biannual event is said to be a bargain hunter’s dream. Shoppers are encouraged to bring totes and bags, but a wheelbarrow isn’t a bad idea either because attendees are sure to leave with a haul.

The area’s largest garage sale is a much-anticipated affair and has been happening for over a decade. The community comes together twice a year to find valued goods. As they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. The Porter County Expo Center hosts this event and allows over 100+ vendors under one roof, making this a bargain shoppers' dream come true.

“The benefit for attendees is always getting great bargains.  For the vendors, it's cleaning out their basements, garages, and attics and selling to a large group of people looking for a bargain,” said Porter County Expo Center Director Lori Daly.

Regarding Covid-19, there have been just a couple of minor changes this year that may not even be noticeable. “While doing our layout for the vendors, we spread them out a bit more than normal to allow for social distancing. We are also encouraging mask-wearing. However, since we are currently in Yellow, it is not mandatory,” said Daly.

If a customer is extra concerned about crowds and germs, they might appreciate taking advantage of the Early Bird hours from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. before the doors open to the general public. Whether a person is concerned about their contact with others or not, these hours are prime shopping time!

“If they want the best bargains, come to the early bird.  We open the doors at 7:30 for early shoppers at $5 per person, and they can shop alone until 9:00 am.  Then at 9:00 am, we open the doors to the general public at only $2 per person.  Kids under 12 are always free to get in,” said Daly.

This gigantic indoor garage sale is a great opportunity for the entire family to find one-of-a-kind items ready to be taken home and loved once more.

When the family’s appetite for incredible finds shifts to wanting some refreshments, they can venture over to the concessions area and take advantage of breakfast and lunch items. Ben’s Pretzels will be there with all its finest warm sweet and salty offerings, and Noah’s Popcorn will also be around with what many say is the best popcorn in the area.

Saturday, November 6th is the day to remember! Attendees will find nearly 25,000 square feet of bargains. Some finds will surely be practical, while others will bring joyful feelings of nostalgia as items to be taken home and cherished. Whether people are in it for the finds or the thrill of the hunt, this colossal biannual event is sure to knock their socks off! The location for the Porter County Expo Center is 215 E Division Road Valparaiso. The sale runs until 2:00 p.m.
