Hannah’s Hope 10th Annual Charity Golf Outing

With the sun shining and bright smiles, golfers teed off at the 10th Annual Hannah’s Hope Charity Golf Outing on Saturday, July 13th. The day was full of fun activities such as a live auction, raffle, and golf related games. Hannah’s Hope volunteers helped work the event and a lemonade stand was put on by a few young volunteers. All around, the day was a success as 144 golfers headed out on the Brassie Golf Course in Chesterton, Ind.

Mike and Mary Martinez started the organization many years ago and some people have been around since the beginning, such as Jeni Pearson.

“I come out to every Hannah’s Hope event, as a friend of Mary and Mike. My daughter is very close friends with Mary, and I knew little sweet Hannah. I just want to be out here to support the cause and the family, it’s wonderful and awesome,” said Pearson.

“My whole family is involved with Hannah’s Hope. My sons are golfing this year and my daughter is now talking about golfing next year,” said Pearson.

Hannah’s Hope is a very helpful organization and Pearson loves to support the special cause.

“What makes Hannah’s Hope so special, besides Hannah, who is the reason for this, is that everything they raise through fundraising goes to help people. They help people like First Steps Indiana, Jacob’s Ladder, and young people in the community that need help with purchasing wheelchairs or equipment or therapy that is not covered by insurance,” said Pearson.

Many people help out with all Hannah’s Hope events. This year, two children stepped up to volunteer for the first time. Sam and Sophia Smith helped out this year at the lemonade stand and out on the course. Sam is eight years old and Sophia is six.

“We came out to help other people that need money,” said Sam. “We want to help people that need help,” Sophia said.

“It’s a lot of fun to help people, and after this I think we’ll go home,” added Sam.

Dinner and drinks were also had after the golf outing. The silent auction and other winnings were handed out at dinner, as well as the hole flags for sponsors of the event. Castle Subaru sponsored hole number fifteen, a par three. If a hole in one was hit, the golfer won a car that was set out on the course too. Every hole had sponsors from local businesses all over NWI.

Be sure to look out for next year’s golf outing and other events that Hannah’s Hope hosts!
