2nd graders in Ms. Masso’s room at Aylesworth Elementary participated in a cumulative Science project that demonstrated their knowledge gained over a two month period. The Science lessons focused on various animal groups and their characteristics, a variety of land and water habitats, understanding of predator and prey, as well as adaptations needed that help animals survive in their environment.
The students were then asked to verify their learning by creating their own “invent-a-animal.” They had to create a make-believe, 3-D animal, place it in a habitat, discuss the animal’s predator and prey, and describe at least three adaptations that help their animal survive in that habitat.
The students were then asked to share their project and report to the class. They all did an outstanding job!
